Wheel-Turning Wednesday

#1 here. The last few weeks have been tough on the blogging world. Two legends of our community, Nellie and Flynn have left for the Bridge over the past few weeks, and they will be sorely missed. Closer to home Tommy lost both his Mama, Minnie, and his aunt, Cora.

A couple of days ago, a friend of ours in Japan lost her beloved cat, Kirimaru. The name means Fog Boy and the cat was found wandering alone in a mountainous area in 2004. He was clearly a pure-bred cat who had been thrown away for some reason. They never knew his exact age but estimate he was at least 17 when he made his final journey. The reason for talking about it is that I would like to show you how beautiful the Japanese crematorium for animals is, how full of kindness and love the environment and process are.

Kirimaru was carried in in a box filled with roses:

There was a lovely Buddhist altar, just like for humans:

And a beautiful photo of Kirimaru:

Sometime ago, I featured a magazine that was dedicated to "Japan, the Cat Country". It really is, isn't it?

Run Free, Kirimaru. You will meet Nellie and Flynn, Minnie and Cora,  and so many others at the Bridge.

  3. I think the way the Japanese send off their beloved animals is on a much higher plane than what often happens here in the U.S. and many other countries. Purrs to Kirimaru's family.

Our deepest sympathy on the loss of Kirimaru. Our thoughts are with his family and those he leaves behind. Looking into his luminous eyes, we can see what a special boy he was. (And what a wonderful name.) His funeral was beautiful. The perfect close to his life. He enters eternal rest surrounded by peace and tranquility.

  9. How beautiful. Were that all living beings were treated with equal kindness and respect upon their departure of this earth. Our sincere condolences to Kirimaru's family. He once was lost but for the greater part of his life, he certainly was found.

  11. I'm so sorry your friend lost her sweet Kirimaru. I love seeing how he was sent off, with lots of love and respect. When I visited my hometown a few years ago, I found a companion animal monument newly built at cemetery. I thought that was wonderful.
My sincerest condolences to Kirimaru's family.

Our angels Isis, Hercule, Céleste, and Loupi are in the garden, and Claire and Momo always put their favorite toy and one flower with them for their last trip.
